If this line is built, electric customers pay for it through their bills. That is how these regional lines are paid for. Nobody has said yet how much a typical house will pay each month.
The cost estimate for the Delaware to Monett piece went up about $90 million, about 26%, in one review in November 2025. It went from $342.6 million to $432.6 million. Southwest Power Pool's board approved the higher estimate on November 4, 2025.
If a giant power user like a data center comes, it could help pay. If it leaves early or uses less than promised, the rest of us could be stuck paying for towers already in the ground.
